Major breakthrough in cerebral palsy research
Researchers in South Australia have found a link between cerebral palsy and exposure to the herpes virus. This breakthrough research which essentially states that exposure to viral infections can trigger brain damage is indeed a new understanding in how some cerebral palsy cases are caused. The study involved 443 children with cerebral palsy and 883 control babies born between 1986 and 1999. Blood samples were taken within a few days of birth were used to test for the family of viruses that included the herpes virus, which can infect the fetus at birth. The study found almost twice as many infected babies who later developed Cerebral palsy as in a control group who never contracted the disease. It is important to note that up till now no one has been able to understand the causes of cerebral palsy other than malpractice by physicians during the birth process. http://www.askthelawdoc.com |
