There doesn't seem to be any place in Baghdad these days that is safe even the seat of power of the Iraqi government its parliament is dangerous, very dangerous. The United States and its allies appear to be bogged down in a never ending spiral of violence that truthfully should be called a civil war. Baghdad these days seems to be the most dangerous place in the world these days and no one really seems to know what to do about it.

A sudden and complete withdrawal from the country would probably be the most damaging move the US could make as this would be seen as a victory for anti-American pan Arabism elements. If this happens a war in the Middle East between Israel and its Arab neighbors would be imminent.  This war may happen anyway.
