Fidel Castro isn’t dead but he will not officially rule Cuba anymore. How long will people in a country agree to live in abject poverty with the average wage no more than 15 US Dollars a month? Retirement pensions are about 7 dollars a month. There is free education and free heath services but Cuba is completely cut off from the rest of the world. Castro has been in fact a dictator over his country for almost half a century. There have been famous athletes that have defected from the country to become Rich and famous athletes. Lius Tiant is a example as he left Cuba to become one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history. Some embraced Castros Cuba so much that they gave up on vast fortunes. A classic example is Teofilo Stevenson a great heavy champion who was offered a gigantic purse to fight Mohamed Ali but politely declined, He could have made in one fight what 10,000 Cubans did not make in a month. The Cuban Government did not let him fight and has not let many others try to make their fortunes. Most analysts don't think their will be immediate change but do think that things will change as Castro slowly leaves the world stage. It is just the beginning the end of the beginning |
