Former Prime Minister Sharon’s son to go to jail. Omri Sharon the son of former Prime Minister Arial Sharon has exhausted all of his legal options and is headed to jail for seven months. The younger Sharon who was convicted of political corruption charges and breaking election fundraising laws will start serving his sentence in February. He was his father’s chief advisor on many issues and is credited with the idea of a unilateral pullout by Israel for the Gaza strip over two years ago. He is a despised man in right wing circles and many former Jewish residents of Gaza are delighted he will be put in jail. They see this as poetic justice that he was instrumental in their eviction from there homes and now he will be forcibly leave his home to do jail time. Others see him as a victim of draconian election laws which almost invites braking of the law because of such low ceiling allowed for cash contributions. His Father who this was done for has been in a deep coma from a debilitating stroke two years ago |
