Android, the open source mobile phone of the future. Google has created android mobile phone platform based on the linux operating system and developed by the Open handset alliance. What this actually means is that anyone who owns the device will be able to use open sources ( free ) to download to the phone anything he wants. This may make all the services of the phone free. Seems hard to believe, but this is all true. This is how it might work. Someone would buy a piece of hardware the size of a cell phone and would be able to download to that device everything needed to talk or surf the web. These applications can include almost anything imaginable that would work on the hardware mentioned. It would be something like a an empty computer with minimal application that could be used to access other applications. This Android project of Google may also utilize the Radio frequencies it is bidding on and make the basic application of phone calls free. Google will provide this service with all the infrastructure involved free while making money on ads. Mobile phone companies do not seem to be worried. Maybe they should be. |
