Head of prisom of khmer Rouge to go on trial

Genocide

There is only one event that can really compare somewhat with the horrific Genocide of Jews and gypsies  in WW2 at the hands of the Nazis and thier collaborators. That would be the reign of terror by the Khmer Rouge of Cambodia.  This movement headed by the notorious Pol Pot could even rival the Nazis for sheer cruelty. Kaing Guek Eav one of the few survivors  of the leadership of the Khmer Rouge Is about to go on trial for running the most notorious prison set up by the Khmer Rouge. About 17,000 political prisoners were tortured at that prison and only seven survived. Kaing Guek Eav tried to make sure there would be no survivors to be able to implicate him someday. Well it  turns out that its hard to make sure everyone is killed. A few survivors will testify against the prison head at his upcoming trial.

The amount killed range from 850,000 to 2,500,000. No one knows exactly how many and the world again stood by and did very little. The sheer ferociousness of the state terror is almost indescribable as life was meaningless for the members of Pol Pots revolution. They killed indiscriminately and wantonly competing for who was the cruelest and violent.

Almost incredibly school children in Cambodia know very little about the Khmer Rouge as if the government is trying to spare the horrors from the younger generation. People were executed for the slightest infractions. Talking to ones relatives or even wearing eyeglasses.

The trial may be used to relive those horrible days where man once again descended in the pit of darkness.
