All polls show Hillary Clinton winning next national election
President Hillary Clinton- how does that sound? Well we all should start getting used to the idea that the first woman and first former first lady will become the leader of the free world. Clinton is leading in all the polls for the democratic nomination and would also beat the GOP front runner former New York mayor Rudolf Guliani. She will win because people are tired of a Republican in the White House and her husband’s popularity is still very high. It will be a very difficult and awkward presidency to say the least. The difficulty she will encounter will stem from the complicated foreign policy decisions she will face. If President Bush does not choose to attack Iran during his tenure Clinton will be faced with some very grim decisions almost immediately. The West and the US have said unequivocally a number of times that a nuclear Iran was completely unacceptable. The new president will be forced into making a huge foreign policy decision before she even gets her feet wet. The Arab Israeli conflict is likely to come to a boil once again as invariably there will be disagreement and violence over failed talks. The present secretary of state Condoleezza Rice has said that there will be a final Status agreement before President Bush leaves office. The power of positive thinking will not be enough for this one though. Clinton doesn’t seem to have the savvy or resolve to make such crucial decisions, she may need to learn on the job. President Kennedy was 20 months on the Job when faced with the Cuban missile crisis. His decision with regard to the “bay of pigs “ invasion of Cuba seemed flawed because of inexperience. On the positive side we can all assume the Bill Clinton will be her unofficial main adviser on the main issues as he will assume his role as the “first man “in the White House. Hillary is probably hoping President Bush clears some issues of her table before she takes the Oath of office. |
