Hamas and Israel are threatening each other as conflict seems imminent

Middle East on powder keg.

Violence has flared up on Israel’s southern border as the Hamas in the Gaza Strip has sent a barrage of rockets into Israel. It’s unclear how long it will take before the Israeli army decides to renter the Gaza strip to try to stop the rocket barrages. Israel’s defense minister has been quoted as saying an Israeli Incursion into the strip was imminent. He has been saying this for sometime as the Israeli army has been training for an incursion.

Most analysts seem to think that military action is inevitable. The proposed peace summit scheduled at some future date in Annapolis seems to be handcuffing the Israeli government from acting in the Gaza Strip. The summit which was originally set for November 18, has no set date as of yet as extreme differences of opinion are undermining the entire reason for the summit. If any of the rockets that are being fired into Israel cause serious casualties or hit a vital strategic facility Israel will probably act. This might be the defacto end to the summit before it ever got started. This would be a serious blow to US efforts to bring calm to the Middle East. It might also make clear to many doubters the difficulty if not impossibility of reaching a solution in the Arab Israeli conflict.

Some see extreme violence developing as a result of the cancellation of the summit and/or an Israeli Incursion into the strip.

The worst is yet to come.
