Prime minister of Israel suffering from Prostate Cancer

Embattled Prime Minister of Israel Ehud Olmert is battling not only police investigation for irregularities in some his different roles in the Israeli government. He apparently is suffering from Prostate Cancer and will undergo Cancer treatment. He has said he will not step down from his position as prime minister but analysts have said that he will not be able to continue in his present state.

This will turn the entire Israeli political process on its head as Olmert will undergo a operation or operations to remove the cancer. The foreign minister Zippi Livni would be next in line if and when Olmert would not be able to continue to function. In case of permanent inability on Olmerts part to continue general elections would be held.

The most likely candidate to succeed Olmert  in those elections is likud Hawk Benjamin Netanyahu. If Olmert manages to continue peace process will also be up the air as an ailing prime minister will have major difficulty managing and handling the upcoming Annapolis peace conference. That’s assuming that there will e a conference at all.

It is interesting to note that both the former Prime minister of Israel Ariel Sharon and present one Ahud Olmert have been plagued with different serious ailments. Many harder line religious groups had warned of dire consequences for those who actively supported policy of removing by force Israelis from settlements. Some of the more vocal members of this group have claimed to predict calamity for such actions.
