Ever wondered why some kernels never pop? Well now you can pop almost all of them.

Unpopped kernels of microwave popcorn make me crazy

Everyone recognizes what a wonderful culinary technological advance we benefit from, with the advent of microwave popcorn.  Gone are the days when making popcorn involved a messy kitchen, oily pots and butter or margarine dripping all over the kitchen table.  Today making popcorn is no fuss, no mess and no bother. Three minutes after you feel the urge for warm crunchy salty popcorn with melted butter in your mouth, you can have a bowl filled to the brim to accompany your favorite t.v. game show, news broadcast or sports event.

But this wonderful discovery has it attendant frustrations and aggravations! Who hasn’t popped popcorn in a microwave without burning or under popping the popcorn. Until you get it right can take a while and then you are left with those frustrating stubborn kernels that never want to pop. Most brands tell you not to repop the remaining kernels as they may burn and cause a fire hazard. After extensive trial I have found the solution to get those little nasty buggers!

Step1.  Place the bag in Micro according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Step2.  If optimum time is 4 minutes on high, stop after 3 minutes to shake the bag.

Step3   Reduce the microwave temperature to medium and activate for 30 seconds  to make sure the popcorn doesn’t  burn.

Step4   Remove popped pop corn place in bowl and remove unpopped kernels

Step5   Place the unpopped kernels back into a bag and activate on medium for 2 minutes

Step6   Repeat step 4

Step7    Repeat step 5

Step8   eat popcorn

Step 9  do not repeat step 4 and dispose of the few remaining stubborn unpopped kernels.

One needs to be careful as all microwaves are not the same and to monitor progress ALL the time during the steps I mentioned to avoid accidental fires.

Enjoy. But be careful
