Lady Bird passes way
The quintessential first lady, Lady bird Johnson Those of us who were children or teenagers in the turbulent 1960’s had a few iconic figures that made America an okay place to live. Lady bird was surely one of those figures. Her grace and style her regal beauty and Texas twang made her a genuine piece of Americana that will be greatly missed. She was the face of America on that darkest of days when L.B.J. was sworn in as president aboard Air Force one after the Kennedy assassination. Her slightly disheveled look that showed both anguish and fortitude was the pillar of resoluteness that helped America heal in its darkest hour. L.B.J.’s indiscretions were often overlooked because Lady Bird was there. She was a symbol of what people wanted the white house to look like. For those who were around in the 60’s and even for others she will be the yardstick for the title of first lady |
