The Ultimate opera performer has passesd away

Bubbles has gone

She was Born Belle Miriam Silverman and later changed her name to the more known Beverly Sills

Bubbles as she was called by many was the most recognizable woman opera star in the world. She appeared many times on the “tonight  show “ “ the Muppet show “ and the famous “ Carol Burnett show “.

A true American cultural icon Sills personified the ability of a talented dedicated woman to reach stardom.

She had a very difficult family life as her husband  Peter Greenough a former Journalist suffered and eventually died of Alzheimer’s. She had a child born with Multiple sclerosis and another who developed autism. All this had seemingly little effect on her ability to entertain thrill and make her fans laugh. Often she seemed to be waging war with  her troubles by entertaining. Her bubbling personality and one liners revealed the extreme talent she had even off the opera stage.

Many believe that her greatest performance was ills' artistic pinnacle may have been her 1966 City Opera performance as Cleopatra in Handel's "Julius Caesar.". For those who were fortunate enough to witness this performance it was a once in a lifetime experience. She herself believed that as a performer it was her finest hour.

Bubbles has gone but her legacy will certainly continue.
